The aim of this conference was to explain the current system that regulates the
responsibilities derived from business activities with an environmental impact in a practical
Martín Silván, Head of the firm's Environmental Law Department, was in charge of the conference, in which he explained the different types of environmental liability, such as civil, administrative or criminal liability. The session primarily focused on this last type of liability: criminal liability.
After analysing the criminal liability of companies as legal entities and talking about the environmental crime as a danger crime, the session thoroughly addressed the specific environmental liability regulated in Law 26/2007, of 23 October, on Environmental Responsibility, which affects all economic and professional activities.
The session was joined by representatives coming from companies from a wide range of sectors, such as mining, olive-growing, agri-food, but also from the construction, refractory materials and detergent manufacturing sectors.
